Its seems like its been an age in the making (do I sound like steven Spielberg) but today was our new clubs Inaugural ride and I could not have been happier.
I woke this morning to horrible wind and rain and started to tell myself that it was going to be a flop. But come what may it was going to happen. I opened my gate at 9 am and saw Dr Sam and after a quick catch up we headed towards Nursling, great ride averaging 21.7 mph which I knew could not last 🙂 We met with David and Jason and together headed to Eling. 20 minutes later 12 of us headed to Beaulieu on what was the start of something huge 🙂
Lovely ride and then coffee and cake. I had dropped a cake off to Mettricks who I am pleased to say are our partnered cafe. Coffee and a scrummy cake later we headed off towards bucklers hard. At that point, we split into 2 groups and the faster lot headed toward Lymington and I led the rest around a loop back to Mettricks for round 2. When we got back for coffee we were met by another one of our members Rich who was babysitting today. After a while catching up we all headed back towards Eling where we said our goodbyes and headed home.
I am so chuffed with today, overwhelmed with the support. 14 new members in only 24 hours. I would like to personally thank everyone who came to ride today and Dom at Mettricks for looking after us.
Top job guys. I am so proud of everything we have achieved today, and what we will achieve in the future. Cycling should not be elitist, it should not just be for the fast and powerful. Cycling should be fun and Cakey 🙂
